Welcome to GeOCHemiSTea

Geochemical data is nuanced and interpretation is often treated as a niche, even though every geoscientist can learn the principles and apply them with confidence.

GeOCHemISTea is a monthly geochemistry podcast hosted by Sam Scher. Each episode pairs real conversation with a practical topic, grounded by a paper or two that we share ahead of time so you can follow along.

Our mission

We are here to help geoscientists build stronger geochemical intuition, ask better questions of their data and learn from the people who have done it in the field and in the lab.

Born in a bar

The concept of this podcast was born in a bar. Talking with friends and mentors that lamented the lack of a platform where we, geochemists, can talk about the real issues.

I hope you’re happy Peter, this is dedicated to you.

Our Process

Introduction

We start with the person. Guests share how they found geochemistry, what shaped their career and what they wish they knew earlier.

Tea Time

Candid stories, behind-the-scenes moments and real talk from their journey in geochemistry.

Geochem

We dig into a topic chosen by the guest, grounded by a paper or a few, and focused on how geochemistry works in practice.

Meet The Host

Sam Scher

Sam started her career in exploration before moving into mining technology. More recently she founded LKI Consulting, focused on applied geochemistry and hyperspectral data integration for the mining and mineral exploration industries.
